A meeting wasn't captured

What to check when Jurnie didn't take notes in a meeting, heard nothing, or its note taker didn't join.

Jurnie only captures a meeting when something starts it: you, in the desktop app or the phone app, or Jurnie's note taker joining the call. Find what you see below.

No Meeting detected notification

  • The desktop app wasn't running. Closing its window keeps it running, but Quit Completely (right-click the Jurnie icon in the menu bar or tray) stops it. Turn on Open Jurnie when you log in in Settings → Preferences so it's always there.
  • Auto-detect meetings is off. Turn it on in Settings → Preferences.
  • The app isn't recognized. The notification appears for common meeting apps and web browsers. For anything else, click Start taking notes yourself.
  • The notification was missed. It shows once per call and disappears after 15 seconds. Jurnie never starts without a click.
  • The subscription isn't active. Jurnie shows a banner (Continue to payment, or Contact your admin if you're not an admin), the notification doesn't appear, and Start taking notes can't be clicked. See Subscription and billing.

Jurnie ran, but heard nothing

  • After 30 seconds of silence, Jurnie shows No audio is being captured. Check that your microphone isn't muted, and pick the right one in the microphone menu at the top of the window.
  • On a Mac, Jurnie needs Microphone and Screen & System Audio Recording access (Screen Recording on macOS 14) in System Settings → Privacy & Security. The second one is how it hears the other people in the call. If access is missing, Jurnie tells you which. After allowing the microphone, restart Jurnie.
  • If one source drops out mid-meeting, Jurnie shows Audio issue and carries on with the other.
  • A meeting with no sound at all gets no transcript or summary.

The note taker didn't join

  • The event has no meeting link. Without one, its Meeting options (⋮) menu is empty.
  • It wasn't scheduled. A scheduled meeting shows the note-taker icon, Jurnie will join this meeting.
  • It was left in the lobby. If the call has a waiting room, someone has to let "your name's Jurnie Note Taker" in.
  • It was cancelled. Turning off Automatically join meetings cancels every scheduled note taker, and so does the end of your organization's subscription. Check that the setting is on, or invite the note taker again.

Finalize didn't go through

  • Desktop: if finalizing fails, for example because you're offline, the controls stay at the top of the window and the audio stays on your computer. Click Finalize again once you're back online.
  • Phone: the meeting stays saved on your phone and uploads by itself when the connection is back. The Jurnie tab shows how it's going, with Retry if the upload stalls.

The meeting stays on Processing

After a meeting ends, it shows Processing under Your meetings while Jurnie writes the transcript and summary. That usually takes a few minutes, longer for a long meeting. If a meeting still shows Processing after an hour, email support@jurnie.ai with its title and when it took place.

Other things to know

  • A meeting captured in the desktop or phone app can be up to four hours long. For a longer session, such as a full-day workshop, finalize and start a new meeting before then.
  • Not captured under Your meetings marks a meeting you wrote personal notes for that nobody captured.
