Update the desktop app

Jurnie updates itself in the background. Here's how to finish an update, what Update Required means, and how to install the latest version by hand.

The Jurnie desktop app keeps itself up to date. It looks for a new version when it starts and every hour after that, downloads it in the background, and shows a button at the top of the window when it's ready.

Finish an update

  1. While a new version downloads, the button at the top of the window shows the progress, for example Downloading 42%....
  2. When it reads Restart to update, click it. Jurnie installs the update and opens again.

If the background download fails, the button reads Update Jurnie instead. Click it to download and install in one step.

Jurnie never restarts in the middle of a meeting. While it's taking notes, the button only shows the download. Restart to update appears once you finalize or discard the meeting.

Update Required

When your version is too old to keep working, Jurnie shows Update Required and you can't use the app until you update. Click Update now. Jurnie downloads the new version, installs it and restarts.

  • If you're taking notes at that moment, a banner tells you to finish the meeting first. The update window appears when the meeting ends.
  • No update available yet. Please try again in a few minutes. means the new version hasn't reached your computer yet. Wait a few minutes and click Update now again.
  • If the download fails, check your internet connection and try again.

Check your version

Your version number is at the bottom of Settings → Preferences in the desktop app, for example "Version 1.4.1". It's also on the sign-in screen.

Install the latest version by hand

If updating keeps failing, go to jurnie.ai/download-desktop. The page picks the right version for your computer and starts the download; there are also links for Mac with Apple silicon, Mac with Intel, and Windows. Install it the way you did the first time: see Install the desktop app.

Still stuck? Email support@jurnie.ai with your version number.
